Design students share a common journey: countless hours spent refining their craft. After three years of dedication, this culminates in the annual graduation show. For the 2021 Beckmans Graduation Exhibition, the concept of Time Well Spent was developed, exploring how time influences the creative process. The exhibition reflects the way time shapes each project—abundant at the start but fleeting toward the end. Despite the challenges, each student reaches their goal, proving that their investment in education was worthwhile.
Time is woven into every aspect of the exhibition’s identity, from the three-part ticking clocks in the animated visuals to the clockwise arrangement of text on the folder. The interaction between former and current graduates in our talks about time also emphasizes this ongoing cycle.
The communication included three films that followed a design student through the phases of their journey: Wasting Time initially, then Saving Time, and ultimately realizing, after much struggle, that it was indeed Time Well Spent.
Additionally we also art directed the catalog imagery of graduating students across all departments—fashion, visual communication, and product design.
