Variable font - fritid & arbete

Beckmans College of Design
Type Design
´“fritid & arbete” is a variable font inspired by Wim Crouwel’s typeface created for the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Created at Beckmans during the beginning of covid in a course with location as focus, the typeface is interpolating between the states of mind for free time and work, and how they during covid and working from home become intertwined. The shape of the typeface is inspired by connections, flexing between relaxed and restrained, symbolizing the difficulty to go places during covid
Free time does not exist without work, and with work comes free time - they are intertwined. The typefaces interpolation between free time and work is a interpretation of constantly moving between these two mental places.
The project also included a digital poster with black and white photos by me at my wfh area, and on a walk just outside.
